About the position

The Human Resources Specialist (Classification/Recruitment & Placement) position within the Department of Defense is responsible for providing a full range of Federal Civilian Classification and Recruitment and Placement services. This role involves advising management on HR functions, analyzing staffing needs, and facilitating recruitment processes to ensure effective organizational structure and career development. The position is available at various locations and offers opportunities for telework and occasional travel.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advisory services to management on HR functions and organizational issues.
  • Analyze and complete recruitment and placement actions based on staffing needs.
  • Conduct job analyses and prepare Job Opportunity Announcements.
  • Determine applicants' qualifications using OPM Qualification Standards.
  • Facilitate mandatory placement programs such as the Priority Placement Program and veterans' programs.
  • Assist in reviewing organizations for position management and classification.

Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level for GS-11 applicants.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level for GS-12 applicants.
  • Experience in conducting job analyses and preparing job announcements.
  • Knowledge of Federal civilian staffing and compensation processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Federal HR programs and policies.
  • Familiarity with OPM Classification Standards.
