About the position

The Human Resources Specialist (Classification) will provide position management and classification services within the Human Resources Office of the U.S. Pacific Fleet. This role involves participating in position management exercises, conducting analyses to improve organizational structure, and ensuring compliance with classification standards. The specialist will also manage requests and maintain documentation related to position descriptions, working closely with supervisors and other specialists.

Responsibilities

• Provide position management and classification services to COMPACFLT activities.
• Participate in position management exercises and discussions with specialists and supervisors.
• Conduct position management analysis to improve structure and work distribution.
• Evaluate and determine appropriate position titles, occupational series, and grades according to OPM classification standards.
• Timely review and intake of new requests, maintaining status in the internal database.
• Upload and update position descriptions in the PD library.
• Assist in position reviews and classification-related projects under supervision.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
• Experience utilizing OPM Position Classification Standards and Policies.
• Ability to gather and analyze facts and communicate information clearly, both orally and in writing.

Nice-to-haves

• Graduate level education or superior academic achievement may substitute for specialized experience.
