Administration of Human Resource Programs

About the position

The Human Resources Specialist position at San Bernardino County is focused on the administration of employee benefits programs and services. This role involves billing reconciliation, researching benefit-related topics, and assisting in benefits administration within a dynamic work environment. The specialist will support various functions related to core benefits and service programs, ensuring efficient operations and compliance with policies.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and reconcile billing invoices, resolve claim issues, process changes, and review discrepancy reports.
  • Conduct research and fact-gathering for benefit-related services; prepare reports and correspondence on various topics.
  • Provide support to the Human Resources Analyst in benefits administration.
  • Assist in conducting procedural audits and developing desk procedures.
  • Coordinate and organize special events and projects related to employee benefits.
  • Provide backup support to the Human Resources Technician as needed.

Requirements

  • An Associate's degree or equivalent completed college coursework (60 semester units) in business or public administration, behavioral science, human resources management, organizational psychology, statistics, or a closely related field.
  • One (1) year of full-time experience in benefits administration, or a related human resources role, including managing employee benefits processes and preparing benefits invoices.

Nice-to-haves

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Three (3) years of experience supporting human resources functions.
  • Strong technical skills, including experience with Microsoft Word and Excel, EMACS (PeopleSoft) HRIS, and applicant tracking systems.
