About the position

The Human Resources Specialist position at San Bernardino County is focused on the administration of employee benefits programs and services. This role involves billing reconciliation, researching benefit-related topics, and assisting in various functions related to core benefits and service programs within a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and reconcile billing invoices, resolve claim issues, process changes, and review discrepancy reports.
  • Conduct research and fact-gathering for benefit-related services; prepare reports and correspondence on various topics.
  • Provide support to the Human Resources Analyst in benefits administration.
  • Assist in conducting procedural audits and developing desk procedures.
  • Coordinate and organize special events and projects related to employee benefits.
  • Provide backup support to the Human Resources Technician as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent completed college coursework in business or public administration, behavioral science, human resources management, organizational psychology, statistics, or a closely related field.
  • One year of full-time experience in benefits administration or a related human resources role, including managing employee benefits processes and preparing benefits invoices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Three years of experience supporting human resources functions.
  • Strong technical skills, including experience with Microsoft Word and Excel, EMACS (PeopleSoft) HRIS, and applicant tracking systems.
