About the position

The Human Resource Specialist - LOA & Employee Relations position at a reputable healthcare company in Southern California focuses on assisting with HR functions and supporting employees in various areas such as payroll, benefits coordination, leaves of absence, and employee relations. The role requires a strong understanding of labor laws and the ability to manage employee leave processes effectively while ensuring compliance with company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Managers/Supervisors to discuss changes, issues, and openings, ensuring all workplace incidents are reported promptly.
  • Advise senior management on HR issues, including policies, disciplinary actions, employee relations, performance evaluations, compensation, and terminations.
  • Administer leave of absence requests and paperwork for medical, disability, and FMLA leaves, determining eligibility and monitoring activity during leave.
  • Lead investigations into complaints of potential unlawful behavior, conducting in-depth meetings with claimants and witnesses.
  • Gather, interpret, and analyze data related to investigations, composing confidential documents and providing updates on findings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Human Resources, or a related area.
  • Minimum 2 years of HR experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws related to FMLA, CFRA, ADA, and Worker's Compensation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the healthcare industry is desired.
  • Ability to work independently and self-initiate tasks.
