About the position

The Human Resources Specialist (Employee Relations/Performance Management) plays a crucial role in managing employee relations within the Department of Defense. This position involves preparing disciplinary letters, responding to grievances, and serving as a technical adviser during third-party cases. The specialist will apply employee relations principles and laws to analyze problems and recommend actions that align with organizational needs, while also coordinating various programs that impact work operations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare disciplinary letters and grievance responses.
  • Serve as a technical adviser during third-party cases.
  • Apply employee relations principles, practices, laws, and regulations.
  • Analyze problems and recommend courses of action that meet organizational needs.
  • Coordinate and manage programs including performance management, Disabled Veteran Leave, Family Medical Leave Act, and Unemployment Compensation.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • Must pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance.
  • Must meet time-in-grade requirements for current federal employees.
