About the position

The Human Resources Specialist (Employee Relations) position at the Department of Commerce is designed for individuals ready to advance their careers by supporting the USPTO in enhancing its employee relations program. This role involves providing consultative advice and services related to human resources policies and procedures, focusing on employee relations issues, and ensuring compliance with federal regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consultative employee relations advice and services to managers, supervisors, and employees.
  • Develop, review, and research policies, directives, and federal regulations related to employee relations.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers using tact, diplomacy, and patience.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Specialized experience equivalent to GS-11 or GS-12 level in federal service advising on employee relations issues.
  • Experience in conducting administrative investigations and applying statutory and regulatory guidance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in developing proposals and decision letters on formal disciplinary actions.
  • Knowledge of federal human resources policies and procedures.
