About the position

The Human Resources Specialist - Employee Relations plays a crucial role in supporting the Director of Employee Engagement and Relations by providing strategic guidance to various stakeholders within the organization. This position focuses on resolving workplace conflicts, managing performance issues, and facilitating employee engagement initiatives, thereby contributing to the overall success and career growth of employees. The specialist will also assist HR Generalist I and engage in various HR processes, ensuring compliance with policies and fostering a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Director of Employee Engagement and Relations by providing guidance to leaders.
  • Evaluate and support the division's objectives to accelerate employee success and career growth.
  • Resolve workplace conflicts and manage performance issues in collaboration with principals and senior managers.
  • Conduct internal investigations related to employee relations matters, including discrimination and harassment.
  • Write and present investigative reports to appropriate parties.
  • Provide written summaries and letters associated with workplace grievances for review by the Director.
  • Engage with staff regarding workplace accommodations and conduct interactive processes.
  • Manage the exit interview process and conduct pulse surveys to gather employee feedback.
  • Research and make recommendations related to workplace grievances.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resource management or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Three years of direct human resources experience, with at least two years in employee relations.
  • Experience consulting with stakeholders on performance and disciplinary concerns.
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment law and employee conduct principles.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • PHR, SPHR, or similar human resources-related certification.
  • Prior experience in primary/secondary education or higher education.
  • Training in conflict resolution and/or mediation.
