About the position

The Human Resources Specialist - HR Payroll Administrator at Baruch College is responsible for managing payroll processes for civil service and managerial employees. This role involves tracking and processing payroll actions, ensuring compliance with contractual agreements, and providing support to employees regarding payroll inquiries. The position also includes data management in CUNYfirst, conducting audits, and assisting the HR Payroll Manager with special projects.

Responsibilities

  • Track and process payroll actions related to salary increases, promotions, and differentials.
  • Assist in the coordination of the overall payroll process and review contractual agreements for implementation.
  • Utilize systems to track and update employee data related to salary changes and increments.
  • Ensure compliance with civil service rules and regulations and respond to staff inquiries.
  • Perform data entries in CUNYfirst and conduct audits to ensure data integrity.
  • Advise employees and managers on HR policies and provide customer service support.
  • Conduct analysis and audits to implement Collective Bargaining Agreements accurately.
  • Assist the HR Payroll Manager with special projects and audits related to payroll.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Four years of related experience in Human Resources or payroll administration.
  • Knowledge of employment and labor laws.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft or similar ERP systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of CUNY Civil Service contracts.
  • Experience in higher education HR.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
