About the position

The Human Resources Specialist at The Pulpo Group plays a vital role in managing payroll and benefits administration while collaborating with leadership to attract and retain talent. This position is essential for ensuring accurate payroll processing and effective benefits management, contributing to the overall success of the organization. The role also involves engaging in special projects to enhance HR knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities

  • Enters, maintains, and processes payroll information including hourly rates, salaries, and deductions.
  • Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes and benefits.
  • Communicates with the Accounting Director to ensure payroll accuracy.
  • Runs payroll processing every two weeks accurately.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates hiring for open positions.
  • Ensures accuracy of benefits enrollments in the HRIS.
  • Performs quality checks of benefits-related data.
  • Assists employees with benefits claim issues and plan changes.
  • Processes leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork.
  • Interprets FMLA and ADA implications for leaves of absence.
  • Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees.
  • Facilitates the annual open enrollment process for benefits.
  • Develops and updates Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Maintains compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants and employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience in Human Resources.
  • Minimum 2 years experience preparing and processing Payroll.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience administering health and 401K benefits.
  • Proficiency in Payroll and HRIS software required.
  • Experience with Paylocity preferred.
  • Strong aptitude for numbers and data analysis skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing needs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in Human Resources preferred.
  • 5+ years experience in Payroll processing preferred.
  • 5+ years experience administering health and 401K benefits preferred.
  • Experience processing monthly invoices preferred.
