About the position

The Human Resources Specialist I position is responsible for providing technical and professional assistance in the administration of disability management programs, workers' compensation programs, and medical benefits plans. The role ensures compliance with federal and state laws, district policies, and procedures while assisting employees in accessing their benefits. The specialist will also compile statistical data, conduct studies, and respond to employee inquiries to ensure effective service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and assist with the administration of disability management programs.
• Manage workers' compensation programs and medical benefits plans.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws and district policies.
• Assist employees in accessing workers' compensation and disability benefits.
• Inform and assist employees and management on disability management processes.
• Report budget expenditures and compile statistical data.
• Conduct studies and surveys related to disability management.
• Maintain employees' medical benefits and service records.
• Respond to employee inquiries and ensure effective customer service.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business, public administration, human resources management, or a related field.
• One year of progressively responsible experience in human resources functions, including disability management and workers' compensation.
• Experience may be substituted for education at a ratio of two years of experience equals one year of education.
• Valid driver's license issued by the State of California.
