About the position

The Human Resources Specialist II - Employee Relations & Development at Texas A&M University - Kingsville is responsible for providing comprehensive support and guidance on employee relations issues, policies, and procedures across the university. This role involves overseeing and coordinating various HR functions, developing standard operating procedures, and participating in projects that enhance employee services. The position requires effective communication with university employees regarding performance and behavior matters, as well as the implementation of training and development programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance, advice, and consultation on performance and behavior matters to university employees.
  • Communicate HR programs, practices, and policies to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Conduct intake and maintain filing and record-keeping of cases, ensuring confidentiality.
  • Monitor cases for trends and implement professional development training.
  • Conduct investigations and write comprehensive reports as assigned.
  • Assist in planning, developing, and implementing HR policies and training initiatives.
  • Assess professional development needs and design training content.
  • Coordinate training and development programs with university stakeholders.
  • Provide training and assistance to training providers and administrators.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding TrainTraq capabilities and functionality.
  • Process TrainTraq access requests and monitor user roles.
  • Monitor outstanding training and provide reports to university leadership.
  • Compose and develop the monthly departmental newsletter.
  • Coordinate employee recognition programs and support professional development initiatives.
  • Coordinate the annual performance review process and monitor completion.
  • Attend System meetings related to area of responsibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of related experience.
  • Proficiency with database, spreadsheet, and word processing programs.
  • Strong analytical and report writing skills.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with good negotiation tactics.
  • Strong time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with social media, C.V. databases, and professional networks.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems effectively.
  • Proficiency in documenting processes and keeping up with industry trends.
  • Familiarity with laws, regulations, and best practices applicable to hiring and recruitment.
