About the position

The Human Resources Specialist II-III for New Hire Orientation, Volunteer Services & Students at Hilo Benioff Medical Center plays a crucial role in managing and leading various HR programs. This position focuses on the recruitment, orientation, and support of new hires, volunteers, and students, ensuring compliance with facility policies and fostering a welcoming environment for all non-employee populations. The ideal candidate will possess strong public speaking, customer service, and organizational skills to effectively facilitate orientation sessions and workshops.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the recruitment, assessment, orientation, and placement of volunteers in appropriate programs within the facility.
  • Develop a program of job descriptions, evaluations, and recognition for volunteers.
  • Conduct workshops for staff and volunteers to ensure effective use of volunteer services.
  • Complete in-processing and onboarding of volunteers, students, and medical learners to ensure compliance with facility rules and policies.
  • Collaborate with Organizational Development, Human Resources, and Employee Health colleagues to ensure new employees are appropriately trained and welcomed on their first day.
  • Facilitate weekly new hire orientation sessions, including presenting relevant content and scheduling guest speakers.
  • Coordinate clinical rotation, job shadow, and other educational placements for students and managers.
  • Serve as the primary contact for state and federal student loan repayment programs.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • 1/2 to 1.5 years of professional work experience in human resources functions such as recruitment, placement, and employee management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in healthcare-related human resources functions.
  • Familiarity with state and federal student loan repayment programs.
