About the position

The Labor and Employee Relations Human Resources Specialist position is located in the Human Capital Management Office of Commander, Fleet Readiness Centers in Patuxent River, MD. This role focuses on providing advisory services in various HR areas including Labor and Employee Relations, Disciplinary Actions, Performance Management, and more. The position allows for local remote work with a requirement to report to the office at least once a month, offering flexibility based on workload.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Program Manager for Incentive Awards, administering activity involving monetary and non-monetary recognition, incentive awards and suggestion programs.
  • Facilitate the Performance Management process with managers and supervisors, including managing the Performance Award Review Tool and facilitating the Performance Awards Review Board process.
  • Provide management advisory services in coaching, counseling, recognizing top performers, and addressing performance issues.
  • Provide advice and assistance in discipline, adverse actions, grievances, employee counseling, and related functions.
  • Provide performance management skills training to supervisors and managers and assist in designing programs that support organizational goals.
  • Serve as the Drug-Free Program Coordinator for COMFRC commands, administering the Drug Free Workplace Program.
  • May serve as program manager and subject matter expert for programs such as Telework, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Disabled Veteran Leave, and Public Service Loan Forgiveness.

Requirements

  • 0-3 years of relevant HR experience.
  • Knowledge of Labor and Employee Relations practices.
  • Experience in performance management and incentive awards administration.
  • Ability to provide training and advisory services to management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Drug Free Workplace programs.
  • Familiarity with Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and related leave programs.
