About the position

The Human Resources Specialist (Military) position within the Department of Defense is a critical role that involves managing and facilitating various human resources functions specifically tailored for military personnel. The incumbent will be responsible for reviewing unfilled requisitions and matching qualified Soldiers to fill these open positions. This includes providing guidance, briefings, and training on current and proposed policies to assigned individuals, ensuring that all personnel actions are processed in a timely manner. The role requires a strong analytical component, as the specialist will provide data analysis regarding soldier availability, unit strengths, follow-on training, and requisition fills, utilizing various automated tools to support these functions. In addition to the analytical tasks, the specialist will prepare and present briefings to leadership and supporting organizations, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed about personnel matters and the status of requisitions. The position demands a high level of competency in computer literacy, customer service, technical competence, and written communication, as these skills are essential for effective performance in this role. The incumbent will also be expected to maintain a Secret Clearance, which is a prerequisite for the position, and may be required to perform occasional Temporary Duty Travel (TDY).

Responsibilities

  • Review unfilled requisitions and qualified Soldiers to fill open requisitions.
  • Provide guidance, briefings, and training on current and proposed policies for assigned individuals.
  • Conduct data analysis of soldier availability, unit strengths, follow-on training, and requisition fills using various automated tools.
  • Prepare and present briefings to leadership and supporting organizations.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
  • One year of specialized experience in human resources, including reviewing records for personnel actions, analyzing data from HR systems, and screening soldiers for assignments.
  • Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in Human Resources or Business Management, or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education in a related field.
  • Combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position.
