About the position

The Human Resources Specialist (Military) position within the Department of Defense is responsible for overseeing staffing goals, providing statistical data to management, and ensuring the effective operation of personnel data systems. This role involves preparing reports, analyzing data for continuous improvement, and managing automated systems related to military personnel assignments. The specialist will also provide guidance to staff and ensure compliance with various administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor staffing goals and assignments.
  • Provide statistical data on current assets to higher management.
  • Compile required statistical data for management briefings.
  • Prepare reports on decisions and recommendations pertaining to assignments.
  • Research and prepare responses to queries from higher management regarding staff.
  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement in employee assignments.
  • Ensure timely and correct completion of procedural and administrative tasks.
  • Obtain and analyze data from various sources to identify deficiencies.
  • Research historical documentation for future planning purposes.
  • Manage automated systems for staff, including various software packages and databases.
  • Oversee funding per Fiscal Year.
  • Request, muster, certify, and extract training performed by employees.
  • Serve as an Organization Defense Travel Administrator (ODTA).
  • Provide advice and guidance on office systems to staff members.
  • Prepare and coordinate operating instructions for system operations.
  • Keep higher-level organizations informed of system problems and operations.
  • Direct and control operations of base-level personnel data systems.
  • Support management goals by developing and improving system applications.
  • Initiate and document policies and procedures for personnel management.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid United States driver's license.
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance.
  • Must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods.
  • Must complete training and maintain a government credit card for travel.
