About the position

The Human Resources Specialist position at the Department of Defense involves managing and administering various human resources functions for the Medical Center of Excellence (MEDCOE). The role requires applying HR management principles and federal personnel laws to ensure compliance and efficiency in HR operations. The specialist will also oversee the incentive awards program and develop internal procedures for tracking HR requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and processes command approval documents for the Medical Center of Excellence (MEDCOE).
  • Applies fundamental Human Resources Management (HRM) laws, principles, policies, systems, methods, procedures, and regulations toward work tasks.
  • Develops methods for tracking and monitoring various human resources requirements and develops associated internal procedures.
  • Serves as the MEDCOE incentive awards program manager for civilian personnel.
  • Resolves quality control issues in the CHRA's personnel action processing process and associated production data.
  • Creates internal procedures and makes recommendations for process improvement.

Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience in civilian human resources principles and Federal personnel laws.
  • Master's or equivalent graduate degree in Human Resources Management or related field.
  • Combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with database management systems for HR purposes.
  • Knowledge of performance evaluations, awards, training, benefits, pay, and leave administration.
