About the position

The Human Resources Specialist - Recruiting position at the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) is responsible for providing operational HR support with a focus on recruitment and onboarding. This role involves managing the full cycle of recruitment, assisting hiring managers with job descriptions, posting positions, screening candidates, and processing new hire paperwork. Additionally, the specialist will classify positions, review compensation, and contribute to various HR policies and compliance efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full cycle recruitment processes including job postings, candidate screening, and selection.
  • Assist hiring managers in creating job descriptions and processing new hire paperwork.
  • Classify positions and review compensation.
  • Contribute to HR policies, procedures, and compliance with state and federal laws.
  • Provide backup support for Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and worker compensation matters.
  • Assist with employee relations matters as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in human resources, business, public administration, or a related field.
  • Three years of job-related experience in a professional office environment.
  • Ability to obtain the State of Montana Classification Certification within one year of hire.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze patterns, identify issues, and recommend process improvements.
