About the position

The Human Resources Specialist - Recruiting position at the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) focuses on providing operational HR support specifically in recruitment and onboarding. The role involves managing the full cycle of recruitment, assisting hiring managers with job descriptions, posting vacancies, screening candidates, conducting interviews, and processing new hire paperwork. Responsibilities

  • Manage full cycle recruitment processes including job postings, candidate screening, and selection.
  • Assist hiring managers in creating job descriptions and posting vacant positions.
  • Process background checks and new hire paperwork.
  • Classify positions and review compensation.
  • Contribute to HR policies, procedures, and compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Assist with employee relations matters and provide backup for other HR services such as FMLA and ADA.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in human resources, business, or public administration.
  • Three years of job-related experience in a professional office environment.
  • Ability to obtain State of Montana Classification Certification within one year of hire.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze patterns, identify issues, and recommend process improvements.
