About the position

The Human Resources Specialist - Recruitment plays a crucial role in supporting the Bureau of Prisons' mission by developing and implementing recruitment strategies to fill vacancies across the nation. This position involves providing technical advice to management and assisting candidates throughout the application process, ensuring a diverse and qualified workforce while maintaining the security of the institution.

Responsibilities

• Develop recruitment strategies in coordination with management to fill vacancies at field locations nationwide.
• Assist in the direction, development, and administration of nationwide recruiting and referral programs for the BOP.
• Provide technical advice and assistance to supervisors and institutional HR personnel regarding available flexibilities, incentives, and best practices.
• Assist interested candidates with questions related to the application process, qualifications, current vacancies, benefits, pay, and leave schedules.
• Maintain security of the institution as part of correctional responsibilities.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education for GL-09; Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education for GS-11.
• Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation.
