About the position

The Instructional Services Specialist at Glendale Community College plays a crucial role in managing class scheduling and ensuring compliance with various educational policies. This position involves using scheduling software to build and maintain class schedules, monitor discrepancies, and assist in preparing the academic catalog. The specialist may work independently or collaboratively to resolve scheduling issues and support the department as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all aspects of class schedule building and maintenance, including adding, modifying, combining, or cancelling class information.
  • Update instructor teaching assignments and course fees in accordance with academic scheduling guidelines and policies.
  • Monitor and maintain class scheduling reports for accuracy and consistency, disseminating information as necessary.
  • Work with departments to resolve standard class scheduling discrepancies and complex issues with supervision.
  • Assist with preparing the academic catalog and serve as emergency back-up support for the department.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution AND one (1) year of advanced program support involving program coordination, preferably in an educational setting.
  • An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience may be considered.

Nice-to-haves

  • One (1) or more years' experience as a class scheduler or providing class scheduling support.
  • Experience using SIS (Student Information Systems) or similar electronic systems for scheduling.
  • Experience using electronic reporting systems such as Student Services Records Systems or Tableau.
  • Experience with Google Workspace or Microsoft Office.
  • Experience working independently and in a team environment in a community college setting.
  • Experience working with faculty or college administration.
