About the position

The Human Resources Specialist - Talent Acquisition at Southwest Tennessee Community College plays a crucial role in the recruitment process, reporting directly to the Assistant Vice President of Talent Acquisition, Development, and Engagement. This position encompasses a wide range of recruitment activities, including strategic candidate sourcing, screening, interviewing, and outreach. The specialist will work closely with hiring managers and senior leaders to align recruitment efforts with the College's mission, culture, and values. The role is responsible for full-cycle recruiting support, serving as a talent acquisition consultant to hiring managers. This includes developing and executing sourcing strategies to identify qualified talent pools, ensuring timely hires, and managing long-term candidate networking relationships. The specialist will also be tasked with creating and implementing advertising and social media recruitment strategies, planning outreach efforts, and representing the College at various recruiting events. In addition to these responsibilities, the specialist will track, maintain, and report on recruiting metrics, proactively communicating progress on the recruiting lifecycle to hiring managers and recruiting leaders. Building strong relationships with hiring managers and College leaders is essential to understand the requirements of open positions and the desired candidate profiles. The specialist will ensure a fair and unbiased recruitment process, facilitate the delivery of offers, and communicate important employment information to candidates. Continuous improvement of the recruiting lifecycle and experience for all stakeholders is a key focus, along with staying updated on industry best practices in talent acquisition. The role may also involve assisting supervisors during peak volumes, providing training to employees, and maintaining accurate employee records.

Responsibilities

  • Provide full cycle recruiting support for the College.
  • Serve as a talent acquisition consultant to hiring managers.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies to identify qualified talent pools.
  • Implement advertising and social media recruitment strategies.
  • Plan, organize, and implement outreach efforts and represent the College at recruiting events.
  • Track, maintain, and report on recruiting metrics.
  • Communicate progress on the recruiting lifecycle to hiring managers and recruiting leaders.
  • Develop strong relationships with hiring managers and College leaders to understand open position requirements.
  • Manage recruiting pipeline based on changing resource needs and College priorities.
  • Ensure a fair recruitment process free from bias.
  • Facilitate delivery of offers and communicate important employment information to candidates.
  • Follow up with candidates and hiring managers to obtain feedback on recruitment.
  • Continuously improve the recruiting lifecycle and experience for all stakeholders.
  • Adopt leading industry best practices in talent acquisition.
  • Participate in special projects to improve talent acquisition performance.
  • Review and analyze recruiting effort performance metrics.
  • Advise hiring managers on candidate selections based on objective interactions.
  • Assist supervisor during peak volumes and employee absences.
  • Provide training to employees and maintain accurate employee records.

Requirements

  • A degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a Human Resources role, with direct experience in recruitment or talent acquisition.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and experience using HRIS applications and analytics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Human Resources Recruiter experience in Higher Education.
  • Proficient with PageUp or other Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and Ellucian Banner.
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) or Society for Human Resource Management - Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP).
