About the position

The Human Resources Specialist at Riveon plays a crucial role in supporting the Human Resources Department and assisting employees throughout their employment life cycle. This position involves a variety of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the smooth operation of HR functions. The specialist will coordinate multiple HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, background screening, and maintaining personnel files. They will also assist in organizing employee events, recognition programs, and wellness activities, contributing to a positive workplace culture. In terms of recruitment, the HR Specialist will manage open positions using the agency's Applicant Tracking System, which includes screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and extending job offers. They will initiate background screenings for candidates and oversee the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring a seamless transition into the organization. Additionally, the specialist will maintain tracking systems for special leave, employee retention, and compliance with personnel requirements. The role also involves coordinating annual benefit open enrollments and processing benefit enrollments for new hires and status changes. The HR Specialist will provide customer service by responding to employee inquiries regarding the onboarding process, benefit programs, and general HR functions. They will assist in coordinating staff-led committees, agency meetings, and various research or special projects as needed. Overall, this position is integral to fostering a supportive and efficient HR environment within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with coordination of multiple Human Resource functions including recruitment, onboarding, background screening, and personnel file maintenance.
  • Assist with employee events, recognition, and wellness activities.
  • Manage open positions through the agency's Applicant Tracking System; screen and recruit candidates, schedule interviews, and extend offers of employment.
  • Initiate candidate background screening through an online process and ensure completion by the candidate.
  • Monitor and oversee the candidate onboarding process for recruited new hires.
  • Maintain tracking systems for special leave, employee retention, and ongoing personnel compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate annual benefit open enrollments and process benefit enrollments for new hires and status changes.
  • Respond to employee requests and questions regarding the onboarding process, benefit programs, and general HR functions.
  • Assist with coordination of staff-led committees, agency meetings, and events.
  • Conduct various research and/or special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • One to three years of Human Resources experience preferred with an emphasis on recruiting and onboarding.
  • Knowledge of basic human resource functions and procedures preferred.
  • Experience with Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) and applicant tracking database systems or equivalent systems/databases preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, high attention to detail, organization and accuracy, adaptability, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks required.
  • Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of MS Office Suite and databases required.
  • Ability to effectively work with Agency employees, outside contacts, and a diverse client population.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree or equivalent experience in a related field preferred.
  • Certification eligibility in applicable field is preferred.
