About the position

The Total Rewards Team of the Utah Division of Human Resource Management (DHRM) is seeking a Human Resource Specialist to join their ranks. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the compensation and benefits services provided to state agencies within the Executive Branch of Utah government are of the highest quality. As a Total Rewards HR Specialist, the candidate will need to possess a foundational understanding of both federal and state human resource laws and regulations, as well as the specific rules set forth by the DHRM. This includes knowledge of pay for performance strategies, compensation structures, classification systems, and benefits administration. The selected individual will be part of a high-performing team dedicated to delivering exceptional HR services. The role requires proficiency in HRIS systems and familiarity with various software tools, including the Google Suite, spreadsheets, and WebI. The ideal candidate will be adept at working with diverse data sets, conducting analyses, and drawing meaningful conclusions that can inform HR strategies and decisions. Excellent communication skills are essential, as the role involves collaboration with various stakeholders across state agencies. In addition to technical skills, the candidate should have proven professional human resources experience or a combination of education and relevant HR experience. Preference may be given to current employees of the Department of Government Operations, particularly those in the HR Analyst II position, as this role may serve as a lateral transfer opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver quality compensation and benefits services to state agencies within the Executive Branch of Utah government.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state human resource laws and regulations.
  • Utilize HRIS systems and software tools such as Google Suite, spreadsheets, and WebI for data management and analysis.
  • Analyze various forms of data sets to provide insights and recommendations regarding compensation and benefits.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to support Total Rewards initiatives.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of federal and state human resource laws and regulations.
  • Experience with HRIS systems and software such as Google Suite and spreadsheets.
  • Familiarity with pay for performance compensation strategy and implementation.
  • Experience in compensation, classification, and benefits administration.
  • Proven professional human resources experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or human resource experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
