About the position

The Human Resources Specialist Trainee in Labor Relations will assist the Office of Health and Safety in fulfilling administrative responsibilities related to health and safety programs. This role involves data collection, report preparation, compliance monitoring, and administrative support for various health and safety initiatives within the agency.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with general safety and health functions in the Office of Safety and Health.
  • Prepare routine correspondence and collect and analyze data.
  • Assist in the preparation, review, and evaluation of reports and records.
  • Make routine determinations of compliance with agency rules and regulations.
  • Develop, maintain, and update database programs for tracking workplace violence assessments.
  • Assist with monthly Workplace Violence program reporting and scheduling meetings with Labor Relations.
  • Collect, update, and tabulate health and safety data, including PESH reports and workers' compensation data.
  • Monitor and follow up on incomplete injury information and attend statewide H&S committee meetings to record minutes.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of safety training and awareness materials.
  • Provide administrative support to EAP Coordinators and maintain an EAP resource database.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree or higher is required for the Trainee 1 level.
  • For the full SG 18 level, a bachelor's degree and two years of professional labor relations experience, or a master's degree and one year of professional qualifying experience are required.
  • One year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in this title or in a title eligible for transfer.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in labor relations or human resources is preferred.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations and compliance is a plus.
