About the position

The Human Resources Specialist V - Benefits Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Benefits department within the Colorado Department of Revenue. This role involves managing a team of HR professionals, ensuring effective benefit administration, and providing support in areas such as leave management, workers' compensation, and ADA accommodations. The position emphasizes leadership, customer service, and compliance with state regulations while promoting a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage the day-to-day operations of the Benefits department.
  • Coach and train HR benefits professionals to deliver on business objectives with a customer service focus.
  • Provide direct leadership for the Benefits team, including setting expectations, assigning tasks, and monitoring progress.
  • Manage the end-to-end open enrollment process and provide training on benefit choices.
  • Analyze and report on the department's benefit package, making recommendations based on employee feedback.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for ADA Employment and Public Services.
  • Administer a comprehensive ADA program and facilitate the interactive ADA process for reasonable accommodations.
  • Participate in audits and provide recommendations to improve policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Eight (8) years of relevant human resources experience or a combination of education and experience equivalent to eight (8) years.
  • Knowledge and experience in Human Resources, Benefits, Workers Compensation, and Unemployment.
  • Strong computer literacy with experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Workspace.
  • Demonstrated ability in auditing processes and recommending improvements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities, including change management and mentoring.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of benefit policies, federal guidelines, and procedures.
  • Background in working in a support function.
