About the position

The Human Resources Specialist V - Benefits Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Benefits department within the Colorado Department of Revenue. This role involves managing a team of HR professionals, ensuring effective benefit administration, and providing support for leave management, workers' compensation, and ADA accommodations. The position emphasizes leadership, customer service, and compliance with federal and state regulations while fostering a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage the day-to-day operations of the Benefits department.
  • Coach and train HR benefits professionals to deliver on business objectives with a customer service focus.
  • Provide direct leadership for the Benefits team including setting expectations, assigning tasks and deadlines, and performance management.
  • Manage the end-to-end open enrollment process and provide training around benefit choices.
  • Analyze and provide reporting on the department's benefit package and make recommendations based on employee surveys.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for ADA Employment Title I and Public Services Title II.
  • Administer a comprehensive and compliant ADA program for the Department of Revenue.
  • Facilitate and participate in the interactive ADA process to identify and provide reasonable accommodations.
  • Participate in audits and provide recommendations to improve policies, procedures, and processes.

Requirements

  • Eight (8) years of relevant human resources experience or a combination of related education and/or relevant experience equaling eight (8) years.
  • Knowledge and experience in Human Resources, Benefits, Workers Compensation & Unemployment.
  • Knowledge of benefit policies, federal guidelines and standards, and procedures.
  • Strong computer literacy with experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google workspace.
  • Demonstrated ability in auditing processes and recommending improvements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities including successful change management, mentoring, and training.
