About the position

The HR Specialist at Montgomery Transportation Group is responsible for supporting the HR department through various administrative tasks related to personnel management. This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual who can manage multiple responsibilities effectively, ensuring smooth HR operations that add value to the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Assist employees with benefits enrollment and questions.
  • Coordinate open enrollment processes and benefits communication.
  • Manage leave of absence requests and documentation.
  • Post job openings, screen resumes, conduct interviews, and coordinate the hiring process.
  • Conduct new employee orientations and ensure a smooth onboarding process.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records.
  • Act as a point of contact for employees regarding HR-related inquiries.
  • Address employee concerns and escalate issues to the HR Manager as necessary.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintain and update employee records in HRIS systems.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of regulatory reports.
  • Participate in HR projects and initiatives, such as employee engagement surveys and wellness programs.
  • Provide support for organizational development activities.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Perform other HR-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in an HR role or similar position.
  • Strong understanding of HR principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the trucking or logistics industry preferred.
  • HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred.
