About the position

We are seeking a Human Resources Specialist to join our team. This role involves supporting the recruitment process, maintaining employee records, processing documentation, and providing support to the Human Resources team. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and a passion for fostering a positive workplace culture.

Responsibilities

  • Support compliance-related tasks, including pre-employment requirements and off boarding paperwork.
  • Assist with new hire orientation and onboarding processes.
  • Provide excellent customer service to employees and managers regarding company policies and benefit programs.
  • Ensure I-9 E-Verify is completed and escalate any compliance issues to the HR Manager.
  • Maintain sensitive and confidential personnel files and ensure accuracy of records.
  • Handle HR administration tasks, including tracking introductory periods and performance appraisals.
  • Assist with payroll administration and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Assist managers and HR team with Job Description reviews.
  • Update DMV Pull Notice Program online and audit Driver Vehicle.
  • Assign and monitor compliance of all training courses.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Human Resources Manager.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • AA degree in HR preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of HR functions, including payroll.
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in Human Resources required.
  • Proficiency in HRIS/Payroll software and knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to certified payroll.
  • Knowledge of compliance with prevailing wage laws for public works projects is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in the construction industry is a plus.
