About the position

The Human Resources Specialist position within the CORE Team at FEMA involves managing personnel and payroll actions, ensuring timely completion of personnel actions, and developing policies related to personnel processing. This role is crucial in supporting FEMA's mission to assist individuals before, during, and after disasters, and requires flexibility in work hours and locations due to emergency management responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Recommend new strategies for issues and problems with processing personnel and payroll actions.
• Ensure all personnel actions and corrective actions are completed in a timely manner.
• Prepare recurring reports as directed.
• Interpret data and provide advice, assistance, and recommendations on identified issues.
• Participate in the development and implementation of new or substantially revised policies and procedures pertaining to personnel processing requirements.

Requirements

• One full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the IC-07 level in the Federal government, demonstrating knowledge of personnel processing rules and regulations.
• Experience analyzing personnel processing errors and applying appropriate corrections.
• Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or a combination of education and experience.
