About the position

The Human Resource Specialist at Goldbelt Incorporated will play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive HR support to the Tidewater Group, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures, and fostering a positive employee experience. This position is essential in managing various HR functions, including offboarding employees, processing terminations, and conducting exit interviews. The HR Specialist will also support HR Generalists by processing job changes, supervisor changes, terminations, and salary increases, ensuring that all HR processes are executed smoothly and efficiently. In addition to offboarding, the HR Specialist will track employees on leave and assist HR Generalists with leave administration and collecting benefit payments. Collaboration with HR Coordinators on onboarding new hires and conducting orientation sessions will also be a key responsibility. The HR Specialist will serve as a point of contact for employees, answering basic questions regarding their employment and Goldbelt's policies and systems. Training will be provided to enable the HR Specialist to act as a backup for data entry, providing surge support as needed. The role requires maintaining legally compliant personnel documentation and records management, as well as managing Workers' Compensation plan administration and claims. The HR Specialist will develop a reputation as a neutral and approachable resource for employees, front and mid-level managers, and the organization as a whole, ensuring that all HR practices align with Goldbelt's mission and values.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for offboarding employees, including processing terminations and conducting exit interviews.
  • Provide support to HR Generalists by processing job changes, supervisor changes, terminations, and salary increases.
  • Track employees on leave and assist HR Generalists with leave administration and collecting benefit payments.
  • Work with HR Coordinators on onboarding new hires and conducting orientation.
  • Answer and assist employees with basic questions regarding their employment and Goldbelt's policies and systems.
  • Serve as a backup for data entry to provide surge support as needed.
  • Assist with basic employee benefit questions and concerns.
  • Maintain legally compliant personnel documentation and records management.
  • Help manage Workers' Compensation plan administration and claims.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in business, psychology, human resource management, or related field.
  • 2 - 3 years of office experience working in a similar or relevant environment, or a combination of education and experience to successfully perform the duties of the position.
  • Broad HR expertise and strong business acumen.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity, with the ability to adapt messages and strategies for diverse audiences.
  • Basic understanding of relevant software, tools, and systems used in the corporate environment, including proficiency in standard software applications like Windows and MS Office Suite.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management or related field.
  • SHRM-CP; SHRM-SCP; PHR or SPHR certification.
  • ADP Workforce Now and Deltek experience.
  • Previous experience working with Alaska Native Corporations (ANCs) and/or exposure to Alaska Native cultures.
  • Previous government contracting experience.
