About the position

The Human Resources Specialist at Sandoval County is responsible for coordinating various HR activities under general supervision. This role involves providing consultation to department directors and managers, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, and supporting HR functions such as onboarding and employee evaluations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures timely and accurate data entry in HRIS system and conducts regular audits for data accuracy.
  • Provides technical support and troubleshooting for HRIS-related issues and assists in training end-users.
  • Supports human resources activities including onboarding, employee evaluation tracking, benefits, and employee assistance programs.
  • Advises department managers on the administration of County policies and compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Presents and coordinates training programs on rules, regulations, and performance documentation.
  • Maintains confidential personnel records according to established rules and regulations.
  • Coordinates personnel actions such as transfers, promotions, and terminations, ensuring compliance with policies.
  • Coordinates employee evaluation procedures and develops tracking and reporting systems.
  • Answers employee questions regarding County Personnel Rules & Regulations and applicable laws.
  • Participates in professional group meetings to stay updated on HR developments.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in human resources, public administration, business administration, or a related field.
  • Four years of professional human resources experience in at least two specialty areas such as HRIS, benefits, or recruitment.
  • Public sector experience and IPMA-HRCP, PHR, or SPHR certification are highly desirable.
  • Valid New Mexico driver's license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with HRIS systems and data entry.
  • Knowledge of human resources regulatory compliance.
