About the position

The Human Resources Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the operations of the Human Resources office at Ivy Tech Community College. This position provides administrative support to senior HR staff, advises employees on HR policies, and coordinates various HR processes including recruitment and onboarding. The HR Specialist is expected to maintain knowledge of current HR trends and best practices to effectively assist employees and enhance HR services.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative support to the Assistant Director, Director, and Vice Chancellor of HR.
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies and procedures while maintaining confidentiality.
• Assist in the Period Activity Pay approval process for Academic Assistants.
• Participate in college committees to improve interdepartmental cooperation and efficiency.
• Manage data collection and documentation related to recruitment and talent acquisition.
• Oversee the processing of employment verifications and maintain employment records.
• Coordinate employee onboarding and offboarding processes according to College policies.
• Conduct new hire orientation sessions to educate employees on College systems and policies.
• Post open positions and utilize the HireRight system for background checks.
• Process E-Verify forms and check Indiana and National sexual offender registries.

Requirements

• Minimum Associate degree in a related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum of three years of full-time experience in human resources or a related field.
• Official Academic Transcripts required at the time of hire.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with HRIS data audits and report generation.
• Knowledge of FERPA and other regulatory requirements.
