About the position

The Human Resources Specialist at HMSHost is responsible for managing complex HR administrative processes and procedures, primarily focusing on tactical roles within established guidelines. This position involves supporting corporate and local HR initiatives, participating in recruitment, delivering training, and maintaining a positive HR presence among staff. The role is non-exempt and typically reports to the HR Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Establish a positive HR presence with associates and management within the branch.
  • Apply federal, state, and local laws, collective bargaining agreements, and HR policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with HR standards among associates.
  • Coordinate and facilitate HR investigations.
  • Interact proactively with associates to identify and resolve HR administration problems while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Understand airport/landlord policies and assist operations with compliance.
  • Support the full recruitment process including posting positions, conducting screenings, and coordinating interviews.
  • Respond to associate inquiries regarding pay, time off, scheduling, and policies.
  • Perform general administrative functions including maintaining employee files and processing changes in HRMS systems.
  • Coordinate and deliver new hire orientation.
  • Promote positive associate and labor relations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3-4 years of administrative experience in a Human Resources function/environment required.
  • Coursework towards HR certification or understanding of HR best practices required.
  • Ability to speak, read, and comprehend instructions and policy documents.
  • Strong knowledge of HR technical subjects required.
  • Expertise in preparing computer-based documents, spreadsheets, and presentations required.
  • Familiarity with HRMS systems, particularly PeopleSoft, is a plus.
