About the position

The Human Resources Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the HR functions of the Washington State Opportunity Scholarship Foundation (WSOSF). This position is responsible for managing various HR processes including hiring, onboarding, payroll, and employee benefits, while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements. The role requires collaboration with the Finance team and involves maintaining the HRIS system, BambooHR, to enhance usability and data accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional on- and off-boarding experiences for incoming and exiting staff while complying with all regulatory requirements and organization policies.
  • Maintain and improve processes within the HRIS (BambooHR) to enhance usability and staff experience while honoring the highest level of data accuracy and security.
  • Lead the biweekly payroll process in the HRIS, ensuring every detail is accurate while troubleshooting technical issues that arise, collaborating with benefits providers as necessary, and supporting with state and federal reporting requirements as needed.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for employees within the HR function including as the support person for open enrollment periods, advising related to company policies, and other HR-related activities.
  • Support finance team with basic accounts payable functions, as well as benefit and payroll tax reconciliation processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience in human resources management, particularly in hiring, onboarding, and payroll processes.
  • Proficiency in using HRIS systems, specifically BambooHR or similar platforms.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain data accuracy and security.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support employees and collaborate with teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with conflict resolution and reasonable accommodation processes.
  • Knowledge of state and federal payroll reporting requirements.
