About the position

The Human Resources Specialist position at Headquarters Air Force is designed to provide expert management advisory services across various human resources management (HRM) areas, including merit promotion, recruitment and placement, classification, succession planning, retirement, and benefits. This role is critical in supporting the agency's goals and objectives, ensuring effective HRM practices that align with the Air Force's mission.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and technical consultative management advisory services throughout the Air Force on effective HRM practices.
• Perform full-service HRM operations and act as technical authority for complex personnel actions.
• Conduct program evaluations of HR programs and develop improvement plans.
• Prepare and deliver written reports and oral presentations, including briefings and training sessions for Air Force leadership and staff.

Requirements

• At least one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 level or equivalent, including cradle-to-grave personnel processes for Air Force political appointees.
• Mastery of federal HR laws, executive orders, regulations, policies, and directives governing HR functions.
• Advanced knowledge of HRM principles, concepts, practices, and analytical methods.
• Ability to interpret manpower documents and connect personnel records to funding data elements.
• Skill in using HR processing systems such as DCPDS and USAStaffing.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Defense Civilian Personnel Data System (DCPDS) and Government Retirement and Benefits Platform (GRB).
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
