About the position

A+ Staffing is currently seeking a Human Resources Specialist to join our internal Human Resources team. This is an entry-level, remote position that plays a crucial role in the daily functions of the HR department, with a strong emphasis on employment and employee relations matters, including new hire onboarding. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience within an HR Department and to grow professionally in the field of human resources. As a Human Resources Specialist, you will be responsible for performing routine tasks required to administer and execute various human resource programs. These programs include, but are not limited to, compensation, benefits, leave management, disciplinary matters, disputes, investigations, injuries, and workers' compensation claims. You will assist in managing employee relations matters, which involves conducting investigations, documenting incidents, and providing advice on dispute resolution processes. In addition, you will facilitate the onboarding process for new hires, responding to inquiries and assisting with the completion of necessary paperwork. You will also be tasked with communicating and interpreting company human resource policies and procedures for both managers and employees, ensuring compliance with company policies as well as federal and state legal requirements. Your role will involve conducting background checks, following the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) process, and collaborating with department managers regarding background check statuses and staff removals. Furthermore, you will counsel and guide managers on appropriate performance management measures, assist in writing corrective action emails, and attend or conduct corrective action sessions as necessary. You will be responsible for reviewing, tracking, and documenting compliance with training, continuing education, and licensure requirements. Identifying and communicating opportunities for process improvement will also be part of your responsibilities, as will maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. You will need to stay informed about trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. Other related duties may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including compensation, benefits, and leave management.
  • Assist in managing employee relations matters, including conducting investigations and documenting incidents.

  • Review, track, and document compliance with training and licensure requirements.
  • Research employee complaints and grievances, taking appropriate action for resolution.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for process improvement to enhance efficiency.
  • Create, maintain, and update company policies and procedures and employment handbooks as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with employment laws and regulations, reviewing policies for adherence.
  • Stay informed about trends and best practices in human resources and employment law.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 1 - 2 years' experience working in a Human Resources department.
  • Excellent listening, oral, and written communication skills.
