About the position

The Human Resources Specialist at Dreams for Change plays a crucial role in enhancing the organization's human resources functions. This position involves working closely with the Director of Business Operations to manage employee onboarding, personnel files, payroll, and benefits, while ensuring compliance with legal requirements and implementing effective HR policies and programs.

Responsibilities

  • Enhances the organization's human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices.
  • Supports organization staff by establishing a recruiting, testing, and interviewing program; counseling managers on candidate selection; conducting and analyzing exit interviews; and recommending changes.
  • Prepares employees for assignments by establishing and conducting orientation and training programs.
  • Ensures planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by hearing and resolving employee grievances; and counseling employees and supervisors.
  • Implements employee benefits programs and informs employees of benefits.
  • Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements.
  • Enforces management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures.
  • Prepare, oversee, and process payroll and benefits administration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or similar work experience required.
  • 3+ years of experience in progressively responsible human resource roles.
  • 3+ years of experience in a supervisory role.
  • Positive relationship building and conflict resolution skills are required.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and expert decision-making skills are required.
  • Experience working with and maintaining sensitive and confidential information required.
