About the position

The Human Resources Specialist position at the Department of Defense involves providing expert HR support, particularly in audit readiness and compliance. Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior Human Resources Specialist responsible for standardizing and coordinating audit readiness concepts and related products.
• Provide technical advice to management in resolving difficult HR problems related to internal processes and employee pay.
• Analyze audit and program review reports to identify deficiencies and recommend improvements.
• Participate in cross-office project teams to resolve complex HR vulnerabilities.
• Monitor and analyze new guidelines and regulations affecting HR operations.
• Prepare various documents including letters, memos, and presentations for management.
• Develop and deliver briefings and training sessions on audit readiness requirements.

Requirements

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level for GS-11 applicants.
• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level for GS-12 applicants.
• Experience in staffing and recruitment, data integrity, and HR program areas.
• Ability to identify and correct HR deficiencies affecting employee pay.
• Experience in assisting with audit preparation and response processes.

Nice-to-haves

• Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education for GS-11 applicants.
