About the position

The Human Resources Specialist at New Destiny Housing Corporation plays a crucial role in supporting the organization's mission to end domestic violence and homelessness. This position involves providing day-to-day HR administrative support, managing recruitment processes, maintaining employee records, overseeing employee benefits, and handling payroll. The HR Specialist will work closely with the HR Manager and collaborate with various departments to enhance HR processes and employee experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Provide front-line HR support and guidance on HR programs, policies, and employee issues.
  • Maintain escalation and resolution of employee HR-related issues, Trinet, and Time and Attendance.
  • Collaborate with departments to develop self-service knowledge content for employees.
  • Support the onboarding process for new employees.
  • Assist with the open enrollment process for employee benefits.
  • Maintain job postings, employee data changes, and job requisition requests.
  • Manage end-to-end employee offboarding processes.
  • Support HR Manager with reporting requests and manage databases.
  • Collaborate with Finance on audits to ensure data quality and compliance.
  • Research and assist in creating DEI initiatives based on employee feedback.
  • Assist with new hire orientation and training sessions.
  • Serve as backup for the HR Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in Human Resources, preferably in a not-for-profit setting.
  • Working knowledge of HR functional areas and principles.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, with the ability to create forms and surveys.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of Diversity & Inclusion, EEO, ADA, and employment law.
  • Familiarity with Trinet HRIS systems and external HR platforms.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in developing HR knowledge content for employees.
  • Knowledge of HR technology and ability to train others on new systems.
