About the position

The HR Specialist at Montgomery Transport LLC is responsible for supporting the HR department by managing various personnel-related administrative tasks. This role is essential for ensuring smooth HR operations and delivering maximum value to the organization. The HR Specialist will engage in benefits administration, recruitment, employee relations, compliance, and participate in HR projects and initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Assist employees with benefits enrollment and questions.
  • Coordinate open enrollment processes and benefits communication.
  • Manage leave of absence requests and documentation.
  • Post job openings, screen resumes, conduct interviews, and coordinate the hiring process.
  • Conduct new employee orientations and ensure a smooth onboarding process.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records.
  • Act as a point of contact for employees regarding HR-related inquiries.
  • Address employee concerns and escalate issues to the HR Manager as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintain and update employee records in HRIS systems.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of regulatory reports.
  • Participate in HR projects and initiatives, such as employee engagement surveys and wellness programs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in an HR role or similar position.
  • Strong understanding of HR principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the trucking or logistics industry preferred.
  • HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred.
