About the position

The HR Specialist at MJW Investments plays a crucial role in supporting the HR Director with a comprehensive range of human resources functions. This position is responsible for recruitment, employee relations, compliance, benefits administration, and fostering a strong company culture. The HR Specialist will manage payroll processing, onboarding, and staff development while ensuring adherence to labor laws and company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Create job descriptions and post job ads for property management and other roles as needed.
  • Review resumes, conduct initial screenings, and perform first-round interviews.
  • Prepare offer letters and other necessary hiring documentation.
  • Perform pre-employment screenings and background checks.
  • Manage the onboarding process for all new hires, ensuring a smooth transition into the company.
  • Provide and oversee Gracehill training for new employees, ensuring completion of required courses.
  • Inform all employees about relevant compliance laws and company policies.
  • Process payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Administer employee benefits, ensuring that employees are well-informed about available options.
  • Manage and resolve employee benefit-related queries.
  • Foster positive employee relations and promote a strong company culture.
  • Manage employee relations, addressing concerns and promoting a positive work environment.
  • Handle disciplinary actions in a professional and fair manner.
  • Assist supervisors in preparing and conducting employee performance reviews.
  • Support management in identifying employee development needs and training opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal labor laws.
  • Keep the employee handbook updated with the latest policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Create a safe and inclusive work environment by promoting workplace safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in human resources, with a focus on recruitment, compliance, and employee relations.
  • Strong knowledge of HR practices, including payroll processing, benefits administration, and labor law compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle sensitive issues with discretion and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in HR management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
