About the position

Jacko Logistics is seeking a dedicated and experienced Human Resources Specialist to join our team in Vancouver, WA. This role is crucial for supporting our fast-paced and rapidly growing company. The ideal candidate will be an expert problem solver with exceptional communication skills, committed to ensuring that our teams feel supported and valued. As a Human Resources Specialist, you will play a key role in managing various HR functions, including onboarding, compliance with labor laws, employee relations, and performance management. You will be part of a motivated team striving for excellence in the transportation industry. In this position, you will manage the onboarding process for new hires, which includes conducting orientation and training sessions. You will ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations for drivers and vehicles, as well as manage compliance with labor laws and safety regulations specific to our industry. Handling employee relations issues, such as conflict resolution and disciplinary actions, will also be a significant part of your responsibilities. You will provide support and guidance to employees on HR-related matters, manage employee feedback and grievance processes, and assist employees with benefit-related questions and issues. Additionally, you will oversee performance evaluation processes for truck drivers, office staff, and other employees, providing feedback, coaching, and performance improvement plans as needed. HR administration tasks, such as maintaining employee records and updating HR systems, will also fall under your purview. You will manage unemployment claims, employee leaves of absence, and ensure compliance with all Washington State labor laws, particularly focusing on your experience managing unemployment claims in the state.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations
  • Experience working in human resources, preferably in a specialist role
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Experience with recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and performance management
  • Certification such as Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) is preferred
