About the position

The Human Resources Specialist position is a vital role within the GPTLHB Human Resource Department, responsible for providing comprehensive administrative support and ensuring compliance with various requirements and government reporting regulations that affect human resource functions. This position plays a key role in managing HR projects and programs, which encompass recruitment and employment, employee relations, policy administration, compensation and benefits, training, rewards and recognitions, retention, employee development, and team building. As part of the HR team, the specialist will coordinate and refine recruitment and hiring processes, assist in developing interview questions, create job postings, and evaluate applicants for eligibility. The role also involves strategic development skills to enhance the onboarding process, coordinating the onboarding of new personnel, processing new hire paperwork, and conducting new employee orientations. Additionally, the specialist will manage the termination process and participate in the evaluation processes and required training. Maintaining expertise in new regulations, laws, and accreditation standards that impact medical staff credentialing and privileging is essential. The specialist will process recruitment requisitions, post them to appropriate sites, perform all Personnel Action Notices (PANs) for new hires, annual evaluations, and terminations, and ensure the establishment and maintenance of all personnel files. Responding to various HR-related questions and requests, collaborating with co-workers, and serving as backup in the absence of other personnel are also key responsibilities. The specialist will assist the HR Director in drafting and revising HR-related policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with federal laws and regulations, particularly those required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for the GPTLHB Human Resource Department and coordinate all administrative aspects of the department.
  • Assist in managing human resource projects and programs in areas including recruitment, employee relations, policy administration, compensation and benefits, training, and employee development.
  • Coordinate and refine recruitment and hiring processes, including developing interview questions and evaluating applicants.
  • Develop and evaluate the onboarding process and coordinate the onboarding of new personnel, including processing new hire paperwork and conducting orientations.
  • Participate in the coordination and follow-through of evaluation processes and required training.
  • Maintain expertise in regulations, laws, and accreditation standards impacting medical staff credentialing and privileging.
  • Process recruitment requisitions and post to appropriate sites.
  • Perform all PANs for new hires, annual evaluations, and terminations, and maintain personnel files.
  • Respond to HR-related questions and requests from staff and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with co-workers to respond to internal and external requests and provide office coverage as needed.
  • Assist the HR Director with drafting and revising HR-related policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with one year of relevant experience, or an associate degree with three years of relevant experience, or a high school diploma/GED with five years of progressively responsible experience.
  • Proficiency in computer programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as other internet technologies.
  • Valid driver's license must be kept current, along with any required certificates or credentials.
  • Ability to handle crisis situations and tolerate stress professionally.
  • Self-directed with the ability to take proactive initiative to assist others.
  • Ability to resolve issues with other departments and coworkers without direct supervision.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends, and overnight or extended travel as necessary.
