About the position

The Human Resources Specialist at the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) plays a crucial role in managing complex human resources functions, particularly in recruitment and placement. The specialist will provide expert advice, develop recruitment strategies, and resolve staffing issues while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an expert Human Resources Specialist in recruitment and placement.
• Provide technical advice in resolving staffing problems across various organizational levels.
• Participate in and initiate recruitment strategies and special programs.
• Advise on the best-qualified candidates to meet staffing goals.
• Process SF-50 actions, set pay, and determine benefits and allowances.
• Conduct retirement counseling for employees and verify creditable service.
• Analyze complex compensation matters and make necessary adjustments.
• Assist managers and employees with HR policies and procedures.
• Develop and distribute vacancy announcements and rate applications.
• Coordinate activities on the selection of subject matter experts.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Human Resources Management or related field preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field required.
• At least 1 year of specialized experience in HR management at a senior level.
• Knowledge of human resources regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to resolve complex HR issues.
