About the position

The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for various aspects of human resources management, including recruitment, onboarding, employee records maintenance, and benefits administration. This role supports the HR department in enhancing the employee experience and reports directly to the Director of Human Resources and Title IX Coordinator.

Responsibilities

  • Post job openings and screen resumes.
  • Coordinate interviews and check references.
  • Build talent networks to find qualified applicants.
  • Manage the NeoGov portal for recruitment.
  • Assist in preparing new employee paperwork and conducting orientation sessions.
  • Maintain accurate employee data, including contact information and employment history.
  • Initiate employee set-up and terminate employee records.
  • Assign leave plans and maintain status changes.
  • Assist in enrolling employees in benefits plans and managing changes to benefit coverage.
  • Serve as point of contact for employees regarding leave plans and processes.
  • Collect payroll information for the payroll process and serve as backup for part-time payroll processing.
  • Support HR programs to improve employee experience.
  • Maintain security of personal computer access and assist with equipment maintenance.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a college or university with a major in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Some experience working in a confidential office environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certificate in Human Resources (SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP).
  • Bilingual proficiency.
  • Knowledge of HR functions and exposure to payroll practices.
  • Familiarity with NeoGov and Colleague.
