About the position

The Human Resources Specialist position at the Department of Defense is located at the 59th Medical Wing, Joint Base San Antonio, Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center, Lackland AFB, Texas. This full-time, permanent role involves conducting studies and surveys to provide recommendations on workforce planning, analyzing workload statistics, and advising management on human resources issues. The position does not require travel and offers telework eligibility as determined by agency policy.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct studies and surveys for the command to provide recommendations on workforce planning.
  • Utilize manpower standards to determine staffing levels.
  • Analyze workload statistics to make recommendations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of program operations.
  • Conduct manpower studies and surveys to analyze various Human Resources Management and manpower-related functions.
  • Provide justification to supervisor on acceptance or denial of requests, including recommendations on special salary amounts.
  • Provide advice and guidance to managers and supervisors on human resources and workforce planning issues.
  • Correspond with candidates regarding interviews, openings, and various questions about positions.

Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience analyzing requests for personnel actions to ensure completeness prior to submission.
  • Experience monitoring the status of personnel actions such as classification actions, promotions, and performance appraisals.
  • Experience providing recommendations to leadership regarding staffing of medical positions.
  • Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field, or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree.
  • Combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position.
