About the position

The Human Resources Specialist at Sandoval County is responsible for coordinating various human resources activities under general supervision. This role involves providing consultation to department directors, managers, and supervisors, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, and performing related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate a variety of assigned Human Resources departmental activities.
  • Provide consultation to department directors, managers, and supervisors.
  • Ensure timely and accurate data entry in the HRIS system.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure data accuracy and integrity in HRIS.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for HRIS-related issues.
  • Assist in training end-users on HRIS functionalities and updates.
  • Support assigned human resources activities including onboarding, employee evaluation tracking, benefits, and employee assistance programs.
  • Advise and make recommendations to department managers regarding the administration of County policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and union contract compliance.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in human resources, public administration, business administration, or a related field.
  • Four (4) years of professional human resources experience, including experience in at least two of the following areas: HRIS system data entry, discipline and grievance processes, benefits, human resources regulatory compliance, or recruitment and hiring.
  • Public sector experience is highly desirable.
  • IPMA-HRCP, PHR, or SPHR certification is highly desirable.
  • Valid New Mexico driver's license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with HRIS-related projects.
  • Knowledge of union contract compliance.
