About the position

The Human Resources Specialist position at Montefiore Medical Center provides a comprehensive range of HR support services specifically tailored for the Faculty Practice Group (FPG). This role is pivotal in assisting the HR Business Partner (HRBP) with various administrative tasks, including calendar management, phone triage, and generating reports. The specialist will play a crucial role in supporting FPG management across several key areas such as staffing and recruitment, employee relations, training, compliance activities, and processing HR transactions related to position management. In this capacity, the HR Specialist will be responsible for interpreting and applying the Medical Center's HR policies and union contract provisions to ensure that HR operations within the assigned divisions are executed consistently and effectively. The goal is to achieve high-level HR outcomes that align with the organization's standards and expectations. The position requires a proactive approach to customer service, ensuring that the needs of employees and management are met efficiently. The HR Specialist will also engage in active listening, conflict resolution, and decision-making processes to foster a positive work environment and support the overall mission of Montefiore Medical Center.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to the HR Business Partner, including calendar management and phone triage.
  • Assist in staffing and recruitment processes for the Faculty Practice Group.
  • Support employee relations initiatives and compliance activities.
  • Process position management and other HR transactions efficiently.
  • Interpret and apply HR policies and union contract provisions to ensure compliance and consistency in HR operations.
  • Evaluate and monitor HR outcomes to ensure high standards are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field is required.
  • At least one year of experience in personnel and human resources is necessary.
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation, and benefits.
  • Familiarity with labor relations and negotiation processes.
  • Strong customer service skills and knowledge of customer needs assessment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, peers, and subordinates in various formats.
  • Active listening skills to understand and address employee concerns.
  • Judgment and decision-making skills to evaluate potential actions and their impacts.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with personnel information systems and HR modeling.
