About the position

The Human Resources Specialist position at the Department of Justice for the Southern District of Ohio involves providing comprehensive HR support within the U.S. Attorney's Office. Responsibilities

  • Researching, interpreting, and applying human resource-related laws and regulations to individual situations and questions raised by employees and supervisors.
  • Providing management with a wide range of flexible and innovative strategies in administering staffing and placement activities in the District.
  • Reviewing applications and applying qualification standards.
  • Assisting with the personnel security and background investigation program.
  • Providing advice and assistance on performance management.
  • Providing advice and assistance in the administration of benefits programs.
  • Processing personnel actions in an automated payroll/personnel system ensuring accurate processing and recording of all personnel actions, and researching and resolving errors as needed.
  • Maintaining personnel records.
  • Providing guidance to staff on the availability and appropriateness of training opportunities.
  • Planning and conducting employee orientations and exit briefings.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship or National status.
  • Satisfactory pre-employment adjudication including fingerprint, credit, and tax checks, and drug testing.
  • Registration for Selective Service, if applicable.
  • Completion of a one-year probationary period, if selected.
  • Time-in-grade requirements must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
  • Specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in Federal service, or a Master's degree in a related field, or a combination of education and experience.

Nice-to-haves
